A 71-year-old performer said the festival had preserved its original character, and had attracted more tourists. Elisabeth, an Italian visitor on her first trip to Qinghai, called it a unique ethnic carnival and said she hoped to return. Since 2025, Tongren has launched its tourism brand as the “World Thang-ga Art Capital” to introduce a model combining performances with activities held in the original villages.
